Cool Water Music Fest Debuts This Weekend in Gravette; 2 Days of Top Texas & Alt-Country Acts

Reckless Kelly puts on a helluva high-energy Texas country show.

If you’re a fan of “Red Dirt” or Texas country, Southern rock-style jams, or bluegrass-tinged country, we have great news for you: the debut Cool Water Music Fest – which takes place starting at 4 pm Friday Sept 8 and runs till late Saturday night on a 600-acre, creekside ranch in Gravette – is bringing Northwest Arkansas music fans 15 great acts for a two-day family-friendly event with a very reasonable ticket cost of just $60 for both days or $35 per day. (The festival’s headliners typically perform for around $20 a ticket at typical shows.)

Headlining the festival are prolific Texas Country chart-toppers Reckless Kelly at 10:30 Friday night and country singer-songwriter Chris Knight at 10:30 Saturday evening. Other national touring acts include Kentucky’s award-winning alt-country standout Jericho Woods (both days), alt-country Texas rock outfit Mickey and the Motorcars (Friday), and award-winning alt-country singer-songwriter Zane Williams (Saturday). Local favorites Mountain Sprout (Eureka Springs-based punkbilly-bluegrass) also is on the Saturday lineup, and a dozen other regional and national acts fill the rest of the two-day event schedule. And a preview of some of the main Saturday acts:

Admission for the festival is $35 per day (kids 12 and younger are free) or $60 for both days, available at the gate. Gates open at 3 pm Friday and 11 am Saturday. Camping overnight is welcome with tents or RVs (no hookups available); camping passes are $20 for the weekend, but the event website says camping passes must be purchased online.

Live music Friday starts at 4 pm; Saturday, a karaoke contest with a $300 cash prize for first place starts at 11:30 am, and live music on stage begins at 1 pm. There are two stages; a band will be playing on one stage while the other stage resets for the next act, organizers said, so there will be nonstop live music all afternoon and evening.

General parking is free, and VIP parking right next to the stage entrance is $10 per vehicle.

There will be food and adult beverage vendors as well as crafts and retail booths on site, organizers said. Security is being provided 24/7 by Benton County officers on-site all weekend. Organizers stressed a family-friendly, laidback atmosphere. Lawn chairs are encouraged as are swimsuits for anyone interested in the adjoining Spavinaw Creek swimming hole.

The venue is located at 11506 N Highway 59, Gravette, 72736.
